With the 2018 NFL Draft set to begin this Thursday, Athlon Sports is recognizing some of the best players to ever come out of Florida State.

The publication compiled a list of the top players at each selection for all 253 picks throughout the history of the NFL draft, which included former Seminoles standouts Deion Sanders (No. 5 pick in 1989) and Derrick Brooks (No. 28 pick in 1995).

The electrifying Prime Time demonstrated versatility not only on the gridiron but as a dual-sport athlete.

5. Deion Sanders, CB/KR

What makes “Neon Deion’s” career even more remarkable is that he also played professional baseball through most of it. Even with his “side gig,” he was one of the best shutdown cornerbacks and return specialists to ever play the game and was the difference maker in back-to-back Super Bowl wins with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys.

Meanwhile, the menacing Brooks was an integral component of Tampa Bay’s first Super Bowl title.

28. Derrick Brooks, LB, Florida State

Brooks made the Pro Bowl 11 times during his Hall of Fame career and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in the 2002, the same year the Bucs won Super Bowl XXXVII.

Regardless of the number safety Derwin James gets picked on Thursday, he has the makings of the next great product in the mold of these two former Seminoles stars.
