Carter’s Corner: Mullen Joins List of Gators to Test Positive for COVID-19

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Gators didn’t play LSU on Saturday and they won’t play their scheduled game against Missouri Oct. 24.
A COVID-19 outbreak on the team took care of that. However, they still made news Saturday when head coach Dan Mullen announced he tested positive for COVID.

Mullen’s post on Twitter is the latest in a week of gut-punches for the Gators, starting with last weekend’s 41-38 loss at Texas A&M. The good news is that Mullen said those players and coaches infected are recovering well with little to no symptoms.
The Gators paused all football activities earlier in the week when 21 team members and two coaches tested positive. The home game against LSU has been tentatively rescheduled for Dec. 12 and the home game against Missouri is scheduled Oct. 31.
The 48-year-old Mullen is in his third season at Florida and is 23-6 since taking over the program after the 2017 season. He said he is self-isolating from his wife and kids as he recovers
