Chris Chiozza scored the final six points of the game and No. 5 Florida snapped a losing streak at three games with a 66-60 victory Saturday over No. 17 Cincinnati in Newark, N.J.
“I didn’t realize we had a three-game losing streak,” coach Mike White quipped. “I’m sure there is a sense of relief. Did it provide a sense of urgency? Probably. When the horn blows I’m sure our guys had a sense of relief.”
Chiozza put the Gators (6-3), who might fall out of the Top 25 this week, ahead 62-60 with a drive across the lane with 1:12 to play. He added two free throws with 20.1 seconds to go and he closed the scoring with a fastbreak layup.
Egor Koulechov had 21 points to lead Florida.
Cane Broome led Cincinnati (7-2) with 15 points.
No. 3 Michigan State cruises • Miles Bridge, Nick Ward and Jaren Jackson each scored 17 points to help third-ranked Michigan State charge past visiting Southern Utah 88-63 as it improved to 9-1. Jackson had 13 rebounds and five blocks. Bridges had 11 rebounds and six assists. The Thunderbirds fell to 5-4.
No. 8 Kentucky romps • Hamidou Diallo scored 23 points to lead No. 8 Kentucky past Monmouth 93-76 at Madison Square Garden, in New York. The Hawks (3-7), who have lost three straight games, were led by Deion Hammond’s 19 points. Micah Seaborn added 18.
Creighton rallies • Marcus Foster scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half to help host Creighton come from behind to beat Nebraska 75-65 for its seventh straight win over the Cornhuskers. Foster scored 10 of the last 18 points for Creighton (7-2). Nebraska fell to 7-4.
Razorbacks roll • Jaylen Barford scored 22 points as host Arkansas beat No. 14 Minnesota 95-79. The
