UPDATE, 11:54 p.m.: The Post’s George Bennett’s report from the Trump watch party in New York:
Compared to the raucous crowds who filled arenas and airplane hangars at Donald Trump’s campaign rallies, the men in suits and women in dresses who filed past a $75,000 cake to watch election results in a hotel ballroom on Tuesday night were a subdued bunch.
But when Florida and its 29 electoral votes were called for Trump just after 11 p.m., a chant of “U.S.A! U.S.A!” erupted and strangers exchanged high fives. With Trump winning the battlegrounds of Ohio and North Carolina earlier in the evening, the part-time Palm Beacher’s frequently written-off candidacy had a clear chance of winning the White House.
