Florida was expecting Miami (Fla.) Southridge cornerback Shawn Davis to enroll in classes this semester. GatorBait.net learned from sources that the 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect was not on campus as of Wednesday afternoon.

247Sports’ Ryan Bartow was able to confirm with sources at Southridge High that Davis will be taking an online class after falling short of the credits needed to enroll at the University of Florida this month. The plan is for Davis to join the Gators in May following the completion of his remaining course.

Davis committed to Florida over the hometown Miami Hurricanes back in August. His lone official visit this fall was to Gainesville in mid-December, just before the dead period began. The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Davis as the nation’s No. 50 cornerback in the 2017 class.
