QB Feleipe Franks looks to bounce back from ‘all-time low’

Florida football coach Dan Mullen and a few Gators players met with the media Tuesday to look ahead to spring practice.

The Gators will get going Friday and Saturday with a pair of practices open to the public.

Chief among the spotlight storylines will be the quarterback competition, of course, but Mullen said he’s not necessarily looking to establish a set depth chart at that position coming out of the spring.

Redshirt sophomore QB Feleipe Franks was one of the three players who spoke to reporters Tuesday and he acknowledged that last season was his first bout of defeat as a football player.

“I hit the all-time low; it’s only going to go up,” he said.

He also noted, as it relates to the quarterback competition that will begin Friday, “I’ve never been afraid of competition, so it’s nothing new to me.”

Meanwhile, Mullen provided injury updates and the Gators doled out jersey numbers to their newcomers. Read more about that here.

As for other changes, junior safety Chauncey Gardner-Johnson discussed both the legal change of his last name and his outlook for the 2018 season.

And he also touched on the significance of having former Florida all-around offensive standout Percy Harvin spending time around the program again.
