The contact period resumed Friday and Florida defensive coordinator Todd Grantham checked in on one of his top targets.

He conducted an in-home visit with junior college transfer Dorian Gerald, the nation’s No. 1 strongside defensive end in the 247Sports Composite JUCO rankings.

Gerald, who attends College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif., said he was honored to meet with Grantham on the first day of the January contact period.

UF coach Dan Mullen reaffirmed Gerald’s offer from the Gators in late November. Gerald is scheduled to officially visit on Feb. 2 and Florida has a strong chance to land his commitment.

The former Tennessee commit will take a trip to Texas A&M on Jan. 19 and has already visited to Louisville and Texas Tech. Gerald is the No. 27-ranked JUCO recruit nationally.
