Gators targeting experienced QB for Dan Mullen’s spread offense
Florida fans are understandably caught up in the Gators’ renewed pursuit of Justin Fields, the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country and a Georgia commit.
But there is another name to keep an eye on as new coach Dan Mullen considers his options at QB.
Terry Wilson, the No. 2-ranked dual-threat JUCO QB in the country by the 247 Sports composite, received an offer from Florida this week. Wilson, listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, redshirted one season at Oregon and then passed for 2,113 yards, 26 TDs and 11 INTs while rushing for 518 yards and 5 TDs this past season at Garden City (Kan.) Community College.
SEC Country recruiting insider Zach Abolverdi says the Gators are competing with Nebraska and Kentucky for Wilson, who could be a good fit for Mullen’s offense. It’s worth noting, though, that Wilson was committed to Nebraska out of high school before flipping to Oregon. And he was recruited to Oregon in part by then-Ducks offensive coordinator Scott Frost, who is now the new Nebraska head coach.
