Florida linebacker Alex Anzalone will miss extended time after breaking his left arm in the Gators’ 31-10 loss to Arkansas on Saturday, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Anzalone, a redshirt junior, left Saturday’s game while attempting to make a tackle in the third quarter. There is no official timetable for his recovery.

This is the third major injury that Anzalone has suffered during his Florida career. He tore his right labrum while trying to make a tackle on a punt against Georgia Southern during the latter part of his freshman season and barely made it through two games before another right shoulder injury cut his 2015 season short.

Anzalone, who has been described as one of Florida’s best overall players, has another year of eligibility and is second on the team with 53 tackles, with 4 tackles for loss, including three sacks.

Redshirt freshman LB Kylan Johnson, who got banged up against Arkansas, will replace Anzalone.

If middle linebacker Jarrad Davis, who left the Arkansas game in the third quarter after re-injuring his high ankle sprain, can’t play this weekend against South Carolina, Johnson will move to middle linebacker and freshman LB Vosean Joseph will take Anzalone’s spot.

Freshman David Reese should also see a lot of snaps, between the middle and outside spots.
