Gators still after coveted prospects in final stretch of recruiting push

College football programs across the country are making their final sales pitches, their last pushes for the top talent in this Class of 2018 with just a week and a half left until National Signing Day.

That meant a very important weekend for Florida, which hosted several of its top targets on campus for official visits.

The Gators are trying to beat out Alabama and others for 4-star defensive end Malik Langham, from Huntsville, Ala., and they made a strong impression on his visit.

“This was my first time ever being in Gainesville. It’s a beautiful place,” Langham told SEC Country’s Zach Abolverdi after his trip. “I had high expectations for the University of Florida and I saw everything I expected to see. The education is second to none and they have one of the top football programs in the country. So you’re getting the best of both worlds at the University of Florida. …

“Everything about Florida impressed me.”

Langham is ranked the No. 14 strongside defensive end in this recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite.

He reiterated that Alabama remains his leader, but he said the Gators improved their chances over the weekend. Read more about his visit and his comments about Florida here.
