Emory Jones, 4-star QB, Heard County High School (Franklin, Ga.) Emory Jones is ranked the nation’s No. 5 dual-threat quarterback in the 247Sports composite. (Chris Kirschner/SEC Country) Quarterback is the biggest question mark for Florida and Emory Jones has a chance to be the answer as a freshman. The Gators will hold an open competition this spring and the early enrollee will battle with Feleipe Franks, Kyle Trask and Jake Allen. Despite his youth and inexperience, Jones is a perfect fit for Dan Mullen’s offense and his dual-threat ability could help him win the starting job. Trevon Grimes, 4-star WR, St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) Trevon Grimes was ranked the nation’s No. 6 wide receiver in the Class of 2017. He needs an NCAA waiver to play in 2018, but there’s a strong likelihood of that happening because of a family health issue. At 6-foot-4, 202 pounds, Grimes will be the Gators’ biggest, most physical player at the position and should quickly work his way into the rotation.
