Florida State football, recruiting news: Willie Taggart hits the recruiting trail – Tomahawk Nation
Willie Taggart was officially introduced as FSU’s new head coach Wednesday, addressing his philosophies and his vision for the Seminoles in his opening press conference.
His offensive style is extremely different than what Florida State fans or players are used to. Gone are the days of a snails-paced offense.
“Lethal simplicity. We wanna score fast, and often, but be very simple on teaching our kids and not confuse them.”
As for defense, Taggart said he has not decided what type of scheme Florida State will run, but wants to stick to that, “Lethal simplicity.” He does however want the FSU defense to bring back memories from the Mickey Andrews era.
“I want a damn good defense. I want it back where we had it. We were a bunch of bad asses. A bunch of war-daddies. We want lethal simplicity. We want to be aggressive. Get in attack mode and make plays.
Our own David Visser broke down Taggart’s most important priorities in taking over at FSU.
Taggart also addressed the FSU fanbase for the first time at halftime of the Seminoles’ basketball game against Loyola (MD).
Ian Boyd of SB Nation broke down some film on the development of Taggart’s offense across his first three head coaching stops and how it will differ from what FSU fans are used to from Jimbo Fisher.
After his introduction to the media and the fanbase, Taggart wasted little time beginning his late run to put together FSU’s signing class. That began with a trip to visit in-town four-star linebacker commit Amari Gainer, the vocal leader of FSU’s 2018 recruiting class who is shutting down his recruitment and will not take his planned upcoming trip to Notre Dame.
After Gainer, Noles247 reported Wednesday that Taggart will be visiting five-star 2018
