Florida State has landed a commitment from four-star defensive end Dennis Briggs.

Briggs took an an official visit this weekend.

Briggs has been an FSU target for a long time, but this was his first opportunity to get to know the new FSU coaching staff.

“It went great,” Briggs said.

“I had a fun weekend. Loved the whole coaching staff. Every individual is a great person. Overall the visit went great.”

He has taken official visits to South Carolina and Miami in addition to FSU, and now he’s ready to make his decision.

“I’ll be making an announcement this week,” Briggs said.

“I have everything I need to know now.”

The Kissimmee, Fla. native was recruited by the previous staff at FSU, but their departure didn’t change his opinion on the Seminoles.

“You don’t just choose a college for the coaching staff,” Briggs said.

“You choose a college for the college itself. I’ve always had that home feeling for FSU every time I come here. It’s still the same. I still get chills. We were walking through the stadium on Friday night and it was crazy.”

During the visit, Briggs had a chance to spend time with FSU’s new head coach Willie Taggart.

Taggart had a prior relationship with him at USF and Oregon, but he didn’t know him very well.

“Meeting him and hanging out with him for the whole weekend raised the comfort level,” Briggs said.

‘He’s a real cool dude. Real intellectual.”
