GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 11 Florida Gators defeated Jacksonville in four sets on Friday afternoon in the Honda of Gainesville Gators Invitational.

UF dropped the first set 25-22, before battling back to win the next three to move to 7-3 on the season. Florida had control of sets 2-4, winning them 25-15, 25-14 and 25-13, respectively.

Thayer Hall led all scorers with 11 points, five aces and three kills, followed by Paige Hammons – who notched nine kills in the match on a .450 hitting percentage.

Taelor Kellum was a force at the net, posting seven blocks, tying her career-high. The Gators held JU to a .042 hitting percentage, the third lowest total allowed by Florida this season.  

Florida returns to action on Friday night at 7 p.m. when the squad takes on FIU in the second game of the Honda of Gainesville Gator Invitational. The Panthers are (6-4) on the year after falling to Army West Point earlier Friday morning.

The Gators then return on Saturday at 2 p.m. to face the Army West Point Black Knights.
