Food Safety/Quality Assurance Technician Job Responsibilities:

Maintains food safety and quality standards and effective documentation to ensure the company is in compliance with best practices for food safety and quality. The FS/QA Technician reports to the Food Safety Manager.

Food Safety/Quality Assurance Technician Job Duties:
Responsible for maintaining the safety, legality and quality of each food and the processes used in their manufacture according to applicable regulations

Responsible for testing, monitoring, and documentation of the Quality Systems including procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Preventive Controls (PCs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), etc.

Perform pre-operative procedures, and environmental monitoring swabs as applicable

Maintain and organize quality and production documentation

Reports food safety and quality issues to supervisors, performing corrective actions as necessary

Provide coverage for quality employees when necessary.

Analyze/inspect food items at specified stages in the production process for compliance to specification

Able to use and calibrate/verify the following instrumentation/measuring devices: Thermometers, Metal detectors, Calculators and Scales.

Approves in-process production and finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.

Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.

Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.

Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

Food Safety/Quality Assurance Technician Skills and Qualifications:

Food Handling/Safety Experience Preferred

Additional Requirements

Florida Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (Per State law)

Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
