GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Week five of the NFL season featured 50 former Gators across 22 NFL teams.
Five Gators and their respective teams stayed undefeated on the season after wins on Sunday.
Joe Haden and Maurkice Pouncey both started in Pittsburgh’s 38-29 victory over the Eagles to get out to a 4-0 record for the first time since 1979. Haden secured four defensive stops and defended one pass, while Pouncey made his 125th career start at center.
A trio of Gators – Freddie Swain, Quinton Dunbar and Jonathan Bullard- also possess a perfect record as the Seattle Seahawks picked up a 27-26 victory against Minnesota to move to 5-0 on the season. Swain, a rookie receiver, reeled in a pair of passes and Dunbar notched four tackles in his start at corner. Bullard was just signed off of Arizona’s practice squad and was credited with a tackle in his first game in a Seahawk uniform.
Individually, Keanu Neal strung together a seven-tackle performance in his start at safety for the Falcons. So far this season, Neal has started in three games and notched 29 tackles.
