Gators to Take on Ole Miss in SEC Tournament Action Thursday
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 7 seed University of Florida women’s tennis (11-10, 7-6) is set to battle 10th seed Ole Miss (12-11, 5-8) Thursday morning in the second round of the SEC Women’s Tennis Tournament hosted by Texas A&M. The Gators and Rebels will square off at 11 a.m. ET at the Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. Live stats will be available but this match will not have a live stream.
Florida enters the postseason on the uptick as it earned two top 50 victories over the course of its final three matches. The Gators’ lone setback during the stretch occurred against No. 5 South Carolina (17-4, 12-1) which finished second in the conference standings. On April 11, UF notched an important win when it defeated No. 14 Michigan, 4-3. Not only was it an impressive victory in terms of the opponent but it was also pivotal in that it ensured that Gators would finish the season .500 or better, establishing their eligibility for NCAA Tournament action.
Featuring a roster that returned the services of just three players from last season’s group, the Gators began the year with a relatively inexperienced team but have seen great growth
