The business is a “blue-collar” manufacturing-based operations oriented work place and the ideal candidate will have experience working in a like or similar environment.
In this role, the core functions are of the Greenhouse Irrigation Specialist are:
The Green House Irrigation specialist reports to the Greenhouse Plant Health Manager. In this role they will assist in making decisions regarding irrigation practices for their area of responsibility. It will be their duty to survey these greenhouses on a schedule that is set by the Greenhouse Plant Health Manager to ensure optimum plant health and that all equipment is functioning properly. When issues are found it will be the employee’s job to alert management and aid in taking corrective action.
Primary Job Functions
Follow and implement irrigation schedules prepared by the Plant Health Manager.
Troubleshoot irrigation malfunctions.
Responsible for operating all irrigation equipment on site.
Responsible for irrigation maintenance and preventative maintenance.
Helping with installation of new irrigation systems.
Help the Plant Health Manager keep inventory of all nutrients and replace them as needed.
Conduct regular soil, plant, and irrigation water testing.
Track data regarding fertility and water usage in Microsoft excel.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
Must exhibit excellent punctuality.
Must have strong communication skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, carrying, sitting, and repetitive motions. Must be able to handle organic plant material daily.
Will be working outside in a GREEN HOUSE like atmosphere where temperatures can reach 95 degrees +.
Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 40 pounds and perform typical cleaning of facilities and equipment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Sunday through Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m, Weekend work is a requirement for this position.
Employee must be available for “after hour” work in emergency situations.
Pay rate ranges from $13.00-$14.00 per hour. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 45 hours per week, with required weekend or “after hours” availability if an emergency situation should arise.
