On Saturday most of the Florida Gators recruiting class was in Gainesville for the game against South Carolina and that included several out of state commits as well.

Defensive tackle commit Fred Hansard (6-3, 310, Princeton, NJ. Hun) was one of those commits in town and he enjoyed his first Gators game.

“Yeah, it was a great visit, it was my first game coming down, so I had fun and a great time,” Hansard said. “The staff showed a lot of love, players were showing love. So I had a great time. The defensive line played an incredible game. I can’t wait to come in play with those guys and compete with those guys.”

While in the Swamp on Saturday, Hansard had the chance to watch the defensive line and he noticed several young guys playing.

“If you’re good enough to play, you’re going to get in,” he said of the young guys playing. “That’s something that jumps out to me because I want to come in early and make a big impact for these Gators.”

Defensive line coach Chris Rumph has been the main recruiter for Hansard and they spoke on Saturday during the commit’s visits.

“If I come in here and work my butt off, I’ll have the opportunity to get a lot of playing time,” Hansard said of Rumph’s message to him. “He said to show these guys I can play with them.”

Two weeks ago Hansard visited Penn State but he says that he still remains solid to Florida despite the visit.

“It was good, I got to go see the coaches and stuff,” he said of his recent visit to Penn State. “But right now, I’m 100 percent to Florida. After this visit, I feel like I’m in good shape with (Florida)
