Kentucky football: Florida tackle prospect Jake Pope commits to Wildcats – SECcountry.com
Kentucky football has received its third commitment of the week. Jake Pope, a 3-star tackle from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announced his commitment to the Wildcats on Wednesday night.
“To start, I would like to say thank you to all of the people who have supported me through my athletic career to date: my mother, my father, my sister, and my entire coaching staff at St. Thomas Aquinas,” Pope wrote. The exceptional STA coaches have done nothing less than make me a better player and a better person.
“On that note, I would like to announce that I am now 100 percent committed to the University of Kentucky!”
Pope is the 108th-ranked tackle in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s listed at 6-foot-7 and 275 pounds. He holds offers from Virginia Tech, N.C. State, Michigan State, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Central Florida in addition to Kentucky.
Three-star quarterback prospect Nik Scalzo, also a Fort Lauderdale product, committed to Kentucky on Monday.
The Wildcats’ six-man class is ranked 39th nationally and 11th in the SEC, according to the 247Sports composite.
