LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky has lost its highest-ranked 2018 football commitment, according to a report from 247Sports.
Four-star linebacker Xavier Peters, ranked as the 173rd-best prospect in the 2018 class by the 247Sports Composite, flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Florida State during an official visit to Tallahassee this weekend, 247Sports reported Sunday.
Peters was the only UK verbal commitment not to sign with the program in the college football’s first early signing period in December. He was the highest-ranked recruit in the 247Sports Composite rankings, which averages the ratings of the three major services, and one of just two recruits in the class rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN.

The West Chester, Ohio native committed to UK in July but then removed all mention of his commitment from his Twitter profile a day later and tweeted he needed to “sit down and think about some things.” Still, he referred to himself as a Kentucky commitment in interviews since that strange bit of drama.
With Peters gone, UK currently holds 22 commitments in its 2018 class, including 20 who signed letters of intent in December.
