Emmitt Smith turned 49 on Tuesday, and Florida expressed well-wishes for his birthday in a great way.

The former Gators running back and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee remains one of the proudest faces of Florida’s past. Smith ran for 3,928 yards with 36 touchdowns as part of the Gators from 1987-89.

Later, he became a three-time Super Bowl champion and an eight-time Pro Bowl player during an NFL career that included stints with the Dallas Cowboys (1990-2002) and Arizona Cardinals (2003-04). He was a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010.
