LAKELAND — Colin Kresl, the Polkpreps.com 2015 boys golfer of the year, signed his national letter of intent to play at Central Florida on Saturday at Lone Palm Golf Club.

The McKeel Academy senior entertained Division-1 offers from Charleston Southern and Southern Miss. He holds a 4.0 unweighted GPA and plans to major in business marketing or business communications.

“I would like to be All-American four years in a row, and hopefully, take one of the years and win an individual or team NCAA championship,” Kresl said.

Kresl is best known for carding a county record 62 at the 2015 Polk County Invitational. He also placed fourth at the 2015 Class 1A state finals, as well as capturing individual low-medalist honors at regional and district competitions last year.

“I am sad that it is over. I will miss the team and coaches. I am guessing college golf won’t be as light-hearted either,” Kresl said.

This season, he finished third at county and then won the Class 1A, District 15 tournament after carding a 64 – which was a course record – at Schalamar Creek golf club.

“I would just like to thank my family, my friends and everyone at the Lakeland First Tee program, and everyone at Lone Palm,” Kresl said. “And a special thanks to Coach Zoran (Ilic), who coached me when I was little.”
