GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Dan Mullen is in his 10th season as a head coach, and in the 10 months since he left Mississippi State to take over the Gators, Mullen has said all the right things about his stay in Starkville.

The overwhelming storyline in the Southeastern Conference this week is Mullen’s matchup with the program he headed for nine years when Florida plays at Mississippi State on Saturday night. In Starkville that means “Mullen Week” is building toward the “Mullen Bowl.”

Mullen tackled the topic repeatedly on Monday as he prepares to become just the ninth coach in SEC history to face his former team as head coach at another conference school the next season.

“I guess that takes the pressure off everybody else,” Mullen said. “Our guys can focus on the opponent, beating an excellent team.”

Still, the 120th game of Mullen’s head coaching career is going to be unlike any other he has experienced. Mullen went 69-46 at Mississippi State and led the Bulldogs all the way to the top of the polls in 2014.
