No. 5 Notre Dame dominates No. 8 Florida State 100-69 – The Ledger

TALLAHASSEE  — Kathryn Westbeld had 21 points and 12 rebounds and fifth-ranked Notre Dame beat No. 8 Florida State 100-69 on Sunday.

Westbeld had her second double-double of the season and sixth of her career. Arike Ogunbowale and Jessica Shepard each scored 19 points, and the Fighting Irish (20-2, 8-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) went over the century mark for the second time this season.

Notre Dame led nearly the entire game and was up 29-14 at the end of the first period as it shot 14 of 22 from the field while forcing five turnovers and holding Florida State to 23.8 percent from the field (5 of 21).

Imani Wright led Florida State (18-3, 6-2) with 23 points, including five 3-pointers and Chatrice White added 14 points. Shakayla Thomas, who had posted a double-double in two straight games, had eight points on 3 of 18 shooting and 10 rebounds.

The Fighting Irish remained tied with Louisville and Virginia atop the conference. All three teams have an 8-1 mark in league play

Notre Dame: Since their 100-67 loss at Louisville on Jan. 11, the Fighting Irish have won their last five games by an average margin of 32.2 points. This was their fourth win by 29 or more points during that span.

Florida State: The Seminoles remain winless all-time against the Fighting Irish, with all but two of their seven meetings decided by 15 points or more.
