Oklahoma (4-5) defeated No. 16 South Florida (7-2) Saturday afternoon, 79-74.

Senior guard Gabbi Ortiz had her best game as a Sooner, scoring a career-high 31 points on 8-of-12 from deep. Her eight three-pointers marked her career best. Ortiz also added five rebounds and two assists in the contest.

The Sooners shot 8-of-19 from 3-point range with 18 total assists, tying their season-high. Oklahoma also drew 24 fouls, with junior guard Gileysa Penzo drawing four charges.

The win broke OU’s four-game losing streak — the team’s longest streak since 2004 — and it gave the Sooners their first victory over a ranked team of the season.

Oklahoma has a week off before facing New Mexico (10-0) Dec. 16. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. CT.
