Packaging Engineer- Florida

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Key member of operational engineering team providing technical support to all aspects of the packaging process including equipment, components, and qualifications. Involved in identifying and implementing increases in operational efficiency and other improvements.
  • Is the packaging expert, this includes on-the-floor support for resolution of issues and controlled process changes.
  • Analyze and provide support to all activities to achieve all marketing objectives and assist to launch new products and reduce cost of production.
  • Develop various packaging concepts in coordination with finished products and materials used and ensure compatibility of packaging with manufacturing unit.
  • Assist all internal teams and perform research on all products and evaluate packing requirements in development phase of all products.
  • Develop all components and packaging labels and monitor all engineering activities and provide support to all products, documents all activities and perform tests on product designs.
  • Design all release of packaging component and assemblies and coordinate with product designers and ensure compliance to all internal and external requirements.
  • Documents all engineering protocols and develop all engineering and manufacturing specification and ensure compliance to all FDA and ISO regulations.
  • Prepare and documents all test designs for packages and prepare new packaging and ensure maintenance of all bill of materials according to required specification.
  • Provide technical support to all engineering and provide support to manufacturing and implementation processes of product packaging.
  • Ownership of the assigned packaging process(es) at the site, including any associated PLM and KPI metrics
  • Support creation, improvement and revision of GMP packaging batch records, SOPs, and documentation
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of packaging related issues
  • Provide on-the-line support of packaging operators, including hands-on training and soliciting feedback
  • Participate in proposal and implementation of packaging performance improvement projects
  • Plan and manage trial packaging activities for evaluations and pre-qualification testing
  • Participate in site packaging technical transfers
  • Ensure components have the appropriate specifications for release and functionality on the line
  • Participate in development of capital project justification and implementation, including cost analysis
  • Analyses drawings and specification for packaging design to determine manufacturability, physical characteristics, manufacturing processes, special-handling and safety requirements, and formulation of materials required to meet customer needs
  • Communicates design specs and projects status to company executives to facilitate sales of packaging solutions and business strategy
  • Design solutions – identifies flaws and redirects packaging design as needed to ensure proper structural integrity is not compromised
  • Test, analyzes, and selects materials for packaging based on quality, durability, and cost effectiveness
  • Work cross functionally to lead the development and establishment of productionprocesses, execution of designs and management of the build cycle forproduction quality
  • Determines root cause of failures, and provides corresponding correction action
  • Remains current to the changes in industry and materials
  • Develops strong customer relationships and delivers high quality customer service
  • Communicates customer issues to management quickly, and works collaboratively to resolve problems
  • Provides program/product related reports as scheduled or requested


  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging or Mechanical engineering, Industrial Technology or extensive experience in package design concepts and success in re-engineering and documenting supply chain packaging
  • Knowledge of OEM
  • Advanced in Auto CAD, Solid Works, drawing sketches
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Power Point, Access
  • Excellent team player with cross functional skill set, organizational skill, detail oriented
  • Excellent communication; strong ability to communicate efficiently & effectively with customers and all levels of management
  • Result oriented
  • Minimum 3 years experience demonstrated experience in technical discipline covering range of Packaging formats applicable to FMCG or Pharmaceuticals/Medical Devices/Healthcare.
  • Working knowledge of GMP and EHS standards.
  • Strong understanding of packaging, materials, forming and finishing processes, suppliers, packing lines, the interaction between line and pack, specifications and documentation (incl. BOM’s), and statistical process control and performance qualifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to set appropriate priorities.
  • Strong skills in problem solving and issue resolution.
  • Project management.
