Job Title: Packaging Supervisor
Reports to: Packaging/Labeling Manager
Location: Midway, Florida
The Packaging Supervisor will manage and oversee the packaging staff across his/her shift to ensure operational objectives are met. He/she will work directly with the labeling staff to make sure that labels are available and ready to apply. The ideal candidate will have the capabilities of monitoring production and directing the performance/quality output of the shift’s team members and must drive the compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety rules, and current good manufacturing processes (cGMPs).
The Packaging Supervisor will also ensure that products are packaged correctly and free of error. Additionally, He/She will collaborate with the shipping team to ready the packaged products for destination. A key component will be to observe, analyze, and determine “bottle-necks” or process-gaps in operations to develop and implement scientific and efficient processes (experience with Poke Yoke or Kan-Ban methodology is a plus).
Implement quality control checks to ensure the packaging and the labelling teams meet all Quality as well as EH&S regulations.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trains, cross-trains, and mentors’ employees in all functions of production to ensure continuous improvement.
Ensures production employees comply with all cGMPs and standard operating procedures.
Coordinates production activities, responds to, and resolves routine production problems quickly by re-assigning and training team members.
The ideal candidate should have the ability to grasp department needs to change quickly and guide others. Able to coach production operators on processes and procedures.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A working knowledge of the manufacturing/packaging operations, usually resulting from a minimum of 1-2 years of experience, but not necessarily in JUST Packaging.
Ability to lead and motivate teams
Able to create a culture of accountability
Ability to read and understand procedures, current good manufacturing practices “cGMPs”, packaging standards, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Demonstrated proficiency in the operation of manufacturing type of machinery.
Ability to work in team-environment a desire to succeed and strong communication skills are a must.
Good command of English both oral and written and customer service skills?
Great attention to detail?
ADDITIONAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must successfully complete a comprehensive background screening
Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance
Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks
Must be able to handle organic matter daily, able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE (95 degrees or greater)
Must have visual acuity with/without job aids to perform activities such as; reading, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small parts/details
Must be able to speak and communicate verbally at conversation levels with co-workers, vendors, etc. (Moderate noise)
4 Shift – 12 Hours (A, B, C, D) A+B = Day and C+D = Night.
