Tingler was tossed for arguing balls and strikes while making his sixth pitching change during Game 1 of the National League Division Series.
“I didn’t know I got tossed,” Tingler said. “When we went and talked, he said he warned me three times. I can’t hear. You can’t hear. I like Lance. Lance is good. We disagreed on the strike zone. Simple as that.”
The Padres sent a parade of relievers to the mound after Mike Clevinger left the game after throwing his second pitch of the second inning. It was Clevinger’s first start since Sept. 23. The right-hander missed the first round of the playoffs because of an elbow impingement.
