TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Alexander Palma doubled and singled as the Tampa Yankees defeated the Florida Fire Frogs 5-4 on Saturday.

Jose Mesa allowed a run, but got Alay Lago to ground out with a runner on second to end the game for his third save of the season.

Tampa started the scoring with a big second inning, when it scored four runs, including a two-run single by Nick Solak.

After Florida scored two runs in the third, the Fire Frogs cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Lago hit an RBI double, bringing home Anfernee Seymour.

The Yankees tacked on another run in the eighth when Tim Lynch hit a solo home run.

Florida saw its comeback attempt come up short after Justin Ellison hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to cut the Tampa lead to 5-4.

Tampa right-hander Dillon Tate (4-0) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing three runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Andres Santiago (2-5) took the loss in the Florida State League game after giving up four runs and six hits over six innings.

For the Fire Frogs, Ellison hit a pair of solo homers.

Tampa remains undefeated against Florida this season at 8-0.
