MARIETTA — Jamir Chaplin led Meadowcreek’s boys basketball team with 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists and the Mustangs topped Blanche Ely (Fla.) 49-45 at Wheeler High School’s Tournament of Champions Wednesday afternoon.

Amari Kelly added 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Cory Hightower added nine points and seven rebounds for Meadowcreek (9-2).


Berkmar 67, Brooks DeBartolo (Fla.) 55

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. —Berkmar reached the semifinals of the Nature Coast Christmas Inviational with a 67-55 win over Brooks DeBartolo (Fla.) in the tournament’s first round at Nature Coast Technical High School.

Tony Johnson logged 18 points and nine rebounds in leading the Patriots, while Ben Soumahoro followed with 16 points and eight boards.

Up next for Berkmar (9-4, 3-2) in the tournament semifinals is Armwood (Fla.) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Mountain View 58, Crestview (Fla.) 44

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Mountain View topped Crestview (Fla.) 58-44 on Wednesday in the first round of the Go Southern Beach Blowout at Northwest Florida State College.

Nahiem Alleyne scored 20 points to lead Mountain View (10-2, 4-1), while Miles Long scored 11. Spencer Rodgers also helped with a 10-point night.

Mountain View will play again on Thursday in the second round at 8:30 p.m against the winner of Rutherford (Fla.) and Calloway County (Ky.).

Buford 83, Winter Haven (Fla.) 64

OCALA, Fla. — Buford’s boys basketball team opened the Kingdom of the Sun tournament with an 83-64 victory over Winter Haven (Fla.) on Wednesday.
