SOUTHWICK — Though voters at Town Meeting last week voted overwhelmingly to allow recreational marijuana dispensaries to open in town, it could be a year, or even longer, before a dispensary might open.
“I’m looking at having a Special Town Meeting about it after the holidays,” said Select Board member Jason Perron, noting that although voters changed the town’s general bylaws to allow recreational cannabis retail, they also need to change the zoning bylaws to designate where such businesses would be allowed.
“I’m hoping we can gain the benefit sooner rather than later,” Perron said.
