Retiring? A senior housing referral service points you to Florida.

SeniorAdvice released a list of the top 15 thriving senior living communities in the United States for LGBT seniors. Taking the top two slots are Florida senior living communities The Palms of Manasota in Palmetto, Florida and The Resort on Carefree Boulevard in Fort Myers, FL.

The Palms was the first retirement community in the country to openly welcome LGBT seniors, according to the site. It’s “a vibrant, thriving place to live,” according to SeniorAdvice. “Residents report a friendly, warm atmosphere with activities, comfortable and beautiful common areas, and a convenient location.”

As for the women-only community The Resort in Fort Myers, the housing referral service notes “This place is a popular vacation spot for many while others choose to make it their year-round home. There are beautiful vistas, meticulous common areas for swimming, outdoor living, and plenty of activities for residents and visitors to enjoy the popular Southwest Florida lifestyle.”

Other living communities included Stonewall Gardens in Palm Springs, California; Fountaingrove Lodge in Santa Rosa, CA and Triangle Square in Hollywood, CA.
