In a slow paced game, Dylan Hebert put up 13 points to lead the South Walton Seahawks in a 36-29 win over the West Florida High Jaguars of Pensacola in a 5A District 1 basketball game Tuesday night in Santa Rosa Beach.

Both teams came out passing the ball around and trying to find that perfect shot. The Jaguars finally got a shot to fall with 2:51 left in the first quarter. A few seconds later, South Walton got on the board with Hebert scoring. Hebert later went to the line and hit two from the charity stripe for a 4-2 game at the buzzer.

In the second quarter, the Jags were again the first to score with Rodney Shoemo swishing a 3-pointer. South Walton’s Cade Rowland answered with a 3-pointer followed by a 3-pointer from Hebert as well for a 10-5 lead.

In the last three minutes of the first half, the Jags made two of five from the free-throw line, while South Walton made two of three. Michael Redding put a rebound back for the Jags in the final seconds, but South Walton still led 12-9 at the half.

In the third quarter, West Florida took the lead with a couple of free throws from Chris Brown followed by a basket from Shoemo. However, it didn’t last long as Hebert and Barrow Holloway hit back-to-back baskets for the Seahawks and a 16-13 lead. The Jaguars got the advantage back when Keion Burrell slammed one in the basket. In the last two minutes, Holloway scored two from the free-throw line for the Hawks but West Florida evened the score with Burrell hit the second of two tries from the line for an 18-18 game.
