The one-sided nature of Florida’s 18-point home loss Saturday against Kentucky put some shell-shocked faces on the Gators.
Despite being awfully early in the Southeastern Conference season, this looms as a big game for the Gators if for no reason than to stop the bleeding of an ugly two-game losing streak in which the team has been outscored by a combine 33 points against the lone unbeaten teams in league play. Last week’s action began with an 86-71 loss at Alabama and ended when Kentucky came Saturday to Exactech Arena/O’Connell Center and used an early second-half flurry to run the Gators out of the O’Dome 76-58 in a game the home team trailed by as many as 25 points. Ole Miss is coming off Saturday’s 75-61 loss at LSU. … Florida leads the all-time series 67-47, including a split of a home-and-home matchup last season.
