Syracuse, N.Y. — While Syracuse football attempts to upset No. 17 Florida State in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, the program will also be hosting a large group of recruits.

The most prominent prospect expected to attend is junior college tight end Ravian Pierce. Here’s a list of visitors confirmed either directly or through another recruit, along with some background on each player:

Class of 2017

TE Ravian Pierce: Pierce, currently at Southwest Mississippi Community College, decommitted from Mississippi State last Wednesday. He’s ranked the No. 3 junior college tight end this cycle by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings and has been offered by Oklahoma State, LSU and Florida, among others. SU can offer the 6-foot-4, 225-pound Pierce an opportunity for immediate playing time as each of its three contributing tight ends this season are exhausting their eligibility. Scout.com first reported Pierce’s visit.

WR Russell Thompson-Bishop: One of five receivers pledged to the Orange, Thompson-Bishop is one of a few commits who’ll be on campus this weekend. The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Bloomfield (Conn.) High School senior is rated three stars and the No. 274 wideout this cycle by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings.

CB Jason Pinnock: The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Windsor (Conn.) High School prospect is currently committed to Boston College, but is traveling up to the Carrier Dome with Thompson-Bishop. Pinnock is rated two stars and the No. 240 corner in the Class of 2017 by 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. SU is interested in Pinnock, but has not offered, per Thompson-Bishop. “They are looking at Jason,” Thompson-Bishop said. “(Defensive coordinator Brian) Ward likes him a lot, just trying to free up or see if there is a roster spot to offer him.”

LB Tyrell Richards: The 6-foot-3, 218-pound Canadian linebacker and SU commit will be back in town after impressing at a camp this summer. Richards,
