GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Three current Florida players announced this week they were transferring from the program, but UF fans who tuned into ESPN2 Wednesday night got a brief glimpse at a couple incoming Gators who figure to make an instant impact.
Forward Scottie Lewis scored 10 points and guard Tre Mann had five points during the 2019 McDonald’s All-America Game in Atlanta, where Lewis and his East teammates defeated Mann and the West, 115-100, at State Farm Arena.
Lewis, the 6-foot-6 swingman who wowed the crowd in the slam-dunk competition Monday, went 4-for-7 from the floor to go with two rebounds, two assists, four steals and a couple turnovers in 19 minutes.
An elite defender with a long wingspan, Lewis’ highlight came in the third quarter when he got into a stance and faced up against Bryan Antoine, his heralded teammate from Rainey School in Tinton Falls, N.J., bound for Villanova. Lewis reached with his left hand, picked Antoine’s pocket and sped to the other end for a run-out slam (finished off with a primal scream).
