120-pound gator captured in parking lot of Florida barbershop

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Reptiles don’t have fur, but this alligator seemed to have wanted a haircut after showing up at a barbershop in Palm Beach County on Thursday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m., the 7-foot, 9-inch long gator, weighing in at 120 pounds, was spotted behind the shop in the 900 block of Belvedere Road, according to NBC affiliate WPTV.

Officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission helped capture the gator as they waited for a trapper to remove the reptile to take it to a farm.

West Palm Beach police spokesman Mike Jachles told WPTV that business owners have seen the gator in the area for quite some time.

“They saw it out, and there was a family of possums that was on the other side of that fence that we believe the alligator partook in before it was captured, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sent an officer out,” Jachles said.
