Cincinnati dispensaries ready for recreational cannabis sales, Kentucky buyers beware – WKRC TV Cincinnati

COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) – In the next week or so, Greater Cincinnati medical marijuana dispensaries should be cleared to begin selling cannabis to recreational customers.

The state already granted several local medical dispensaries provisional licenses, so it’s just a matter of getting a state inspector inside to allow them to start selling recreational products to the public.

But just because it’s only legal in Ohio doesn’t mean only people from the Buckeye State will be buying it.

Lt. Justin Bradbury with Covington Police said the department isn’t treating marijuana any differently than before it became legalized across the river. But he does have a warning for anyone planning to cross the river to buy and use it.

“We’re not increasing enforcement. We’re not decreasing enforcement. Basically, it’s the same level. If you expected it to be a problem before, it’s still a problem. Now, if you want to use marijuana, we suggest you do it in Ohio and then come back over here, preferably driven by someone else. So, you’re safe,” Lt. Bradbury said.

If you have less than 8 ounces, it’s only a misdemeanor in Kentucky.

Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Rob Sanders, warned that a person can unknowingly get themselves into a lot more trouble
